Welcome

The club has a flourishing Junior Section run by volunteers [in conjunction with the club and the Pro] and we aim to offer the chance to learn and play golf in a safe and enjoyable environment.  The club has achieved GolfMark Accreditation having met High Standards in Coaching and Playing, Club Environment (including Sports Equity and Ethics), Child Protection and Duty of Care.

Boys and girls participate on an equal basis and are offered experienced coaching and competitive opportunities.  Our juniors can play the game in one of three formats that reflect their age and/or playing abilities:

  • Beginners – a chance to play on the short ‘blue’ course and in Flag 50 challenges
  • Improvers & Development - junior competitions for ‘high handicap’ juniors are awarded a handicap of between 29 & 54]
  • Proficient - junior and club competitions for ‘low handicap’ juniors [holding an official CONGU handicap: boys 28 or below, girls 36 or below]

Coaching and Learning to Play

One of our PGA professional Michael Bent, runs the Kibworth Junior Academy.  He offers group and individual coaching sessions throughout the year using any one of the club’s extensive practice facilities:-

  • Grass 300 yd driving range (including 3 covered bays),
  • The short game practice area (bunkers/chipping green)
  • Practice putting green

The sessions are open to both beginners and more experienced players.
Call him on 0116 279 2301  [option 2] for further details.

Opportunities to Play Golf

On Sunday afternoons from April to September the Junior section runs a variety of different events for all abilities from fun formats to competitive Junior ‘Board’ competitions.

In addition the club holds a Junior Open and Junior Captain’s Day.  Junior members can also play:

  • On the course subject to their membership/age/handicap
  • In the main Club Competitions once they have achieved a CONGU handicap
  • Junior team matches [league and friendly]

We also encourage juniors with CONGU handicaps to play in Junior Open Competitions at golf clubs throughout Leicestershire and accumulate points towards the County Order of Merit
